Terms of Service

Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and gfpgan.io ("we", "us"). By using the website or its services, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use gfpgan.io.

You must be at least 16 years old to use gfpgan.io. If you use it for a business, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms on that business's behalf.

What gfpgan.io does

gfpgan.io uses AI to restore old and damaged photos: it repairs faces, reduces scratches and tears, sharpens detail, and brings back color.

gfpgan.io is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Tencent or Tencent ARC Lab, the creators of the open-source GFPGAN model.

We may improve, change, or remove features over time. If we remove something you've paid for, we'll give you a fair remedy, such as a refund of unused credits.

Free use and accounts

• You can restore photos for free without an account, within the daily free limit shown on the site.
• Free limits reset every day and don't carry over.
• If you create an account, keep your login details safe. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
• One person, one free allowance. Using multiple accounts, scripts, or other tricks to get around the limits isn't allowed.

Your photos

You keep ownership. Photos you upload stay yours. So do the restored results.

You give us permission to process them. You allow us to store, copy, and process your photos only to deliver the service to you, for example by sending them to our AI provider for restoration and saving the result. This permission ends when you delete the photos.

You need the right to upload them. Only upload photos you own, or that you're allowed to use. Family photos you have in your possession are fine. Don't upload photos you don't have permission to use.

Personal use and commercial use. Results made on the free plan are for personal use only, such as family albums, gifts, or sharing with relatives. Commercial use (for example, selling prints, client work, or advertising) requires a paid plan.

Acceptable use

You may not use gfpgan.io to:

• Upload sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualizes minors. We report it to the authorities.
• Upload intimate or sexual images of anyone without their consent.
• Create images meant to deceive, harass, defame, or impersonate someone, or to present a changed photo as untouched evidence.
• Upload content that is illegal or infringes someone else's rights.
• Break, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service, or get around limits, security, or payments.
• Resell or offer the service to others through automated access without our written permission.

We may remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules, without a refund where the breach is serious.

About AI results

AI restoration is an estimate, not a perfect copy of the past. Please keep in mind:

• The AI can add or change details, including small facial features, textures, clothing, and colors. Colors on black-and-white photos are the AI's best guess.
• Heavily damaged photos, or faces that are very small, blurred, or missing, may give poor results.
• Results aren't suitable as legal, medical, forensic, or historical evidence.
• Always keep your original photo. Don't throw it away because you have a restored copy.

Credits, plans, and payment

• Restorations use credits. The number of credits each option costs is shown before you start.
• Free daily credits expire at the end of the day (UTC).
• Paid credits and plans are described on the pricing page at the time you buy.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your account settings. After cancelling, your plan stays active until the end of the paid period, and you won't be charged again.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices may include or exclude taxes depending on where you live, as shown at checkout.
• If a restoration fails on our side, the credits for it are returned automatically.
• We may change prices for future purchases or renewals. We'll tell subscribers before a price change applies to them.

Refunds

You can get a full refund if both of these are true:

1. You ask within 7 days of the purchase, and
2. You've used less than 10% of the credits from that purchase.

This applies to one-time credit purchases and to each subscription payment. To ask for a refund, email support@gfpgan.io from your account email with your order details. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method, and the related credits are removed.

Outside these conditions, payments aren't refundable, except where the law in your country says otherwise. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under the law where you live.

Our content and name

The gfpgan.io website, design, text, and software belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy them without permission. This doesn't cover your photos or your results, which remain yours.

Ending your use

You can stop using gfpgan.io and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if required by law, or if your account is used for fraud or abuse. Where we close an account without a serious breach on your part, we'll refund any unused paid credits.

Disclaimers

We work hard to keep gfpgan.io running and producing good results, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise it will always be available, free of errors, or give a particular result for a particular photo.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data, or emotional distress, arising from your use of gfpgan.io. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or 50 USD if you haven't paid us anything.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that can't be excluded by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top of this page, and for important changes we'll tell signed-in users before the change takes effect. If you keep using gfpgan.io after that, the new terms apply.
